How will my healthcare costs be covered if I go abroad?

The procedures differ depending on the country you will be going to, what you will be doing there (studies, internship, etc.), and how long you will be staying...

Generally speaking, if you are going to Europe (European Union, EEE, Switzerland, United Kingdom), please request the European Health Insurance Card from your Ameli account. It will cover part of your healthcare costs whilst you are there.

Depending on your circumstances, you will either continue to be covered by the French scheme, be covered by the scheme in your host country, or have to pay for health cover out of your own pocket.

It is advisable to take out repatriation insurance and supplementary health insurance. Indeed, whether in France or abroad, healthcare insurance does not cover everything.
